2018 Important Items: AKA Manuals, Bluebox, FSUIPC, Landing Rates, General Tour Information   09/01/2017

Important Items: Bluebox/FSUIPC, Manuals-(Operations/Bluebox), Landing Rates, General Tours Information BLUEBOX Ops Manual and Bluebox Manual(s) are important reads to get you up and running as fast as possible. The Operations Manual outlines the basics and the flight operations and conditions flying here at Alaska Adventures.  The "Bluebox" manual is imperative to review to understand all the workings of Bluebox. (Bluebox is our ACARS and is available as a separate download on the Blue Box Software (ACARS) Page). EFFECTIVE JAN 1, 2018 - the ACARS version for the all pirep submissions is: Blue box Version (version 19) which contains an auto-save feature as well as a load flight feature which enables you to resume a pirep.     To resume a pirep, load your sim, open bluebox v19, Connect to FS, then navigate to Recovery > Load flight and choose the flight that you wish to resume. Once this file is loaded, you will note that all the pirep to this point will be loaded in bluebox, then it will move your aircraft location in your sim to that which was saved. Once your sim starts up at the new location and resumes, in bluebox select Start Flight and your pirep is resumed and you are continuing. (Bluebox will auto-save your flight @ 15mins and each save will over-write the previous so you always have the more recent save).  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MANUALS Operations Manual Direct Link: http://www.flyaka.com/aka_pilots/Manuals/Current/2017-01-10 Ops Manual.pdf (Navigate to AKA Home Page, Login, Operations Tab - OPS MANUAL) Bluebox Manuals Blue Box Manual: http://www.flyaka.com/index.php/downloads/364 Blue Box Quick Start Guide: http://www.flyaka.com/index.php/downloads/365 (Navigate to AKA Home Page, Login, Downloads Tab - BlueBox Tab - Blue Box Software (ACARS) Page) Important BLUEBOX NOTE: After taking off, you MUST obtain at least 1000AGL before Bluebox will register your next landing, so between landing locations, your aircraft must hit 1000AGL at least once. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FSUIPC NOTE: Your sim requires at least the free version of FSUIPC to allow for bluebox connection to your sim. Bluebox works for most sims: FS9, FSX, FSX-SE, P3Dv1x, 2x, 3x, P3Dv4x There is only one place to get FSUIPC which is at the creator's site (Peter Dowson). Link: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html Now there are three versions, 1. FSUIPC5 - For P3Dv4 ONLY, (Current version is 5.12/64 bit) 2. FSUIPC4 - For FSX, FSXSE, P3Dv1x, P3Dv2x and P3Dv3x (Current Version is 4.971/32bit) 3. FSUIPC3 - For FS2004 (Current Version is 3.999z9) Now you only require the freeware or non-registered version for our bluebox to work but depending what you want as far as figuring custom controllers etc outside the actual simulation configurations or additional options, you might want to get the registered version of FSUIPC.  NOTE: (X-Plane users XPUIPC – Link http://www.tosi-online.de/XPUIPC/XPUIPC.html).   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLIGHTS/TOURS General Information/Important Information ** Commencing Jan 2018, our maximum permissible landing rate for any flight is -500fpm unless otherwise indicated. As of June 2017, we commenced for all future tours a new flight leg numbering system: we had added a suffix. This suffix is a three digit coding: IE -6A0. This will help all to know the parameters/restrictions or conditions of each flight leg at a glance. The definition of the suffix and its meaning is illustrated below using a few examples of suffixes: "6A0",  "4G3", "5N2", IE: - “6A0”: 6=Max landing rate is -600fpm. (2017)  >>>>>> (NOTE: Effective Jan 2018 the -600frm rate is reduced to -500fpm) A-Autopilot and GPS use permitted. 0-denotes # of Stop-overs in the flight leg (If there are no stop-overs in a flight legs this value will be 0 which means this flight is a direct flight). ---------------------------------------------- IE: “5N2”:  5=Max landing rate is -500fpm. N-Autopilot and GPS use is not permitted. 2-denotes that are (2) two Stop-overs in this flight leg so it is not a direct flight. The two stop-over locations will be identified/specified via the tour download and in blue box in the route box when you load up the flight leg. ---------------------------------------------- IE: "4G3": 4=Max landing rate is -400fpm. G=GPS use is permitted but no autopilot can be engaged). 3-denotes that are (3) three Stop-overs in this flight leg so it is not a direct flight. The three stop-over locations will be identified/specified via the tour download and via the route box when you load up the flight leg in blue box. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please ensure that you obtain the tour downloads for all of the tours, (from the site under Downloads > Tour Downloads*) as well as Blue Box at least V and now V with save ability.  (Jan 1, 2018 – all must use Bluebox V These tour downloads* are a MUST download and each tour download (one download for each tour), contains the all the tour information, flight plans, sky vector map links etc. for that tour. In later tours commencing with Tour 66: those tour downloads contain the specific conditions and  parameters and specific restrictions in which to fly the legs as well as any mid-point or stop-over(s) landing locations that must be made within a specific flight leg. Ensure you have all the information you require by obtaining and referring to the tour downloads for each tour. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For a full listing of tours: open and closed date, please refer to The Tour announcements and note all the active tours are displayed on the main tour page and their accompanying tour download can be found under Downloads - Tour Downloads.  Again, just a reminder that there is a tour download for each tour: which includes specific tour details, most with prepared flight plans as well as sky-vector map links and some with special add-on scenery to enhance your sim scenic environment.  Tour downloads are a must requirement for the new Stopover Tours. Please be sure to download the tour package for each tour as they contain vital information and conditions that directly pertain to that said tour.  We hope you continue to join us here for a great year and if you want some great flying adventures in excellent scenery areas, with a great bunch of fellow pilots, "Bush at its best", so to speak, stay with us here at Alaska Adventures VA. Tour 095 - Valdez-Merrill Air Service - (4Nx) - Opens January 15, 2018   01/03/2018

Tour 095 - Valdez-Merrill Air Service - (4Nx) - will opens on January 15, 2018:     This is “Valdez-Merrill Air Service”. A scenic trip from Valdez Pioneer Field (PAVD) through the heart of Alaska to Merrill Field (PAMR) and return to Valdez Pioneer Field (PAVD). This is a mail run of sorts and we are making all regular stops so be prepared for multiple stop-overs in each flight leg. We will fly the “heart of Alaska” and RTMM scenery adds many scenics to this trip from portions of the BWEP to the Snow Dogs AKA-RTMM hangar scenery as many of the airport stops contain our special Hangars and signage. In this mail run, we will also pass over the Yukon River, travel to the west coast to the Bering Sea then make our way to Merrill Field (PAMR) for our final delivery before taking a short run back to Valdez Pioneer Field PAVD. Aircraft: Due the length of the flight legs and multiple stops we’ll need a twin multi aircraft: Either the DC3/C47, C46A, Rockwell AC Commander series or the Beech 18. (Standard prop: Non turbo). Tour Flight Leg Rating Conditions: Level 3/Hard difficulty-“4Nx”: 4=Max landing rate is -400fpm. N=No Autopilot or GPS/D use permitted. x-# of Stop-overs in the flight legs.
